The Year in Doughnuts

In my second post looking back at the first year of this blog, I couldn’t start anywhere else but reflecting on my guilty pleasure: the doughnut. It’s been quite a year of amazing, interesting and occasionally disappointing doughnut experiences, and I’ve put together a collection of key moments in fried dough, ending with my #1 doughnut event of the year. (Some of you were there, and can probably guess what it was.)

Living Across from Stan’s Donuts (Chicago):

Spending the last eight weeks in Chicago, living across the street from this amazing doughnut store. And not only was this one of the newest of the shiny doughnut stores to pop up in Chicago, but it was the first non-LA outpost of the 50-years-and-counting corner doughnut shop near UCLA – about fifteen minutes from where I grew up. Living in such close proximity was, of course, a blessing and a curse.
